  • Zombie Apocalypse by Gurnimar, Year 6

Ellie, who was as cheery as a Sunday morning but as tough as a nail, made her way through the damp and misty forest. Panicking, she looked around and fear flowed through her veins. Her heart beat like a drum as the cold winter’s wind slapped her across the face. It wasn’t long before she saw something. It was a zombie! She ran as fast as she could and hid behind a tree as ancient as time itself. The zombie was petrifying: pale as the moonlight; half-alive, half-dead.

  • The Vanishing Girl by Aanya, Year 6

BREAKING NEWS – Rose, a girl aged 11, has gone missing. Rose loved tennis. It was her life. Until now. THWACK! The tennis ball flies off into the woods. Rose ran off into the woods to get it. 2 minutes passed. 5 minutes passed. Rose’s friend was starting to worry.

  • The Dark Figure by Maya, Year 7

I felt a shiver go down my spine as we walked through the woods. The trees shook in the wind. The clouds cried their hearts out, drenching Zoey and I. Lightning strikes! I start looking around frantically. Where is she? “Zoey”, I shout. My words disappear into the fog. Suddenly, the sound of heavy footsteps seem to be getting closer and closer. Silence. A dark, tall figure stands still. Its face, seen in the moonlight, has large, red eyes. Full of hatred.

  • Summer Holidays by Mikhail, Year 8

He knew he'd remember this moment for the rest of his life. Alyaan lost his parents in the woods. It is getting cold now and he has no shelter. He is scared. The wolves howl in the distance, a signal of their hunger. A pitch-black blanket covers the Earth and he listens to the wind blowing in the darkness. Suddenly, the smell of smoke fills his nostrils. Alyaan looks up to see two figures standing by the lake. His eyes widen. "Are they my parents?", he thinks.

  • The Foreboding Forest by Aaron, Year 8

Amongst the mist and fog lay a dark and derelict forest. Encaged in the wasteland was an imposing archaic castle. There was a fence that seemed endless and a rusty gate with obsidian spires reaching up to the sky. The castle was made of limestone and had 16 gargoyles on each side, observing young, lost travellers never to be seen again. Legends and rumours flood the area. To this day, people wonder what is encased in this castle.

  • The Sinister Woods by Yusuf, Year 8

The dark and misty forest engulfed me as I willed myself to keep going, The ancient rotting trees pointed their crooked fingers at me as I sprinted past. The beast jumped out from behind a tree, startling me. A thick hot bead of sweat trickled down the side of my face. The creature's glowing eyes were blinding me. I shut my eyes tightly, hoping this would save me. The beast let out one last roar. I had failed.

  • 1968 by Zack, Year 10

Suddenly, everything went black. Ears ringing. Throat burning. How did I let this happen? Could this be the end for me? Guilt flashes past my eyes… Its slim figure lingers over me, drowning me in its sorrowful look. Debris flies adjacent to my plump body, the grains of dust sink into the soft wool blend of my Ralph Lauren trousers. The commoners' filth surrounds me with their despair and anguish. It wasn’t me. I didn't do this.

  • The Aftermath by Grace, Year 11

I was running bare feet down the hill, through the muddy forest, trying to catch my breath. Tired and starving. I finally stop and breathe deeply. Fear has left my body. I am a free person, who has made it out alive. I look up at the sign above my head and my heart sinks. I realise where I am. The trees begin to close in on me and the wind howls. This is where it all started.
